That IS old and what a great find Juli. It looks like a lovely area and so nicely wooded. From the looks of it, it looks like it would have been nice just to stand there and take in the fragrance of all the different plant material. Great shot!!!

I used to go looking for these old tracks in Alberta because most of the wood ties had dated nails in them to show when they were installed. It was just a small nail with a wide flat head that would have the last two digits of the year, so '06' at that time would mean the tie was installed in 1906. I had date nails from 1905 up to the 1960s.

It looks like it has been some time since any trains rolled down these tracks.Urbex sounds like a bit of archeology in a way.A fine shot.

I was last in Berlin in 1968. We didn't get to wonder the woods much. Now I would like to return. Wonderful shot.

wow . there history here to be find. I posted on http://www.city-data.com/forum/europe/ a photo of some old columns in a field and told them where it was located. of course I used the Baton Rouge, Louisiana forum as that where it was and I had great comments of history about a house there that was used in to movies and one was "gone with the wind" You may wish to join and post this in the area forum you live in and someone may know the history of these tracks. I guess you live in Europe?

well seen and superb photo. so many are abandoned here, but salvaging the steel for recycle is hard to do. the rail companies do not want it but do not want anyone else to profit from the recovery
