Description

I am pleased to report that there are still some interesting cast iron lamposts in my road, with their history boldly displayed on the surface. I shall be extremely disgusted if the council chooses to spend money repainting them whilst cutting the social care budget. And also denying me photographic opportunities. See another section of this same lamppost Here

Do you agree councils have far and away too much power these days? Cutting social care to waste money on other areas, where do they learn their economics? Hold that thought, how can they "Learn" anything?

Wonderful textures Andrea and you know that the councils will never get their priorities right. It does make me wonder what the government will be doing with all the overseas aid that will be coming in for our flood victims!!

Both shots are fantastic and time has afforded natures own abstract as surfaces start breaking down through the years of layered paint. Reminds me of the work by Aaron Siskind although most of his tended to be in black and white, I like it in colour because the colour in this case enhances the overall capture. Well done for looking beyond the obvious when seeking out different subject matter.

I hope they don't paint them. It could take years for them to look this good again!!

Great abstract close up. The colors and texture are the wonders of life (can't fake it in computer art work)!

Both versions have excellent depth of layers my friend and lovely arrays of color. Both are wonderful captures!

Beautiful in its antiquated ugliness, Andrea. You are so fortunate to be around this form of subject matter, with its long history depicted in every color and tortuous texture. And, on further viewing, do I see the southeastern section of the United States rendered in black across its surface?

maybe you need to have Change.org and do some petitions to convince them the errors of their ways Great capture

And here I was going to tell you what a talented abstract painter you were. A fabulous find and one more reason to be jealous. All of our lampposts are made of unpainted treated aluminum.

At least they are not removing them and replacing them with boring fiberglass poles! We've wonderful metal lamp posts, all fluted with decorative bottoms and tops to hold the lights themselves, and little by little they are removing them and replacing them with totally unesthetic ugly "sticks" of fiberglass that fall apart if one looks at them the wrong way. love the peeling paint and the wonderful textures they reveal.
