Description
A fine day on the Prom, between rain and gales.
This most unusual garment caught my eye for two reasons:
1. It wasn't a cold day
2. It has a unique design and was obviously extremely expensive when new.
I doubt that it is a modern garment.
The lady might be a Russian Jewess, what do you think?
(Bournemouth has a very large Jewish population).

Scalloped edge beaver coat, edged with fitch, and a blue fox hat. I made such garments when I was a master furrier. between the years of 19 72-79 Never know, this could be my handy work here :)

what a marvelous portrait of this lady. she is certainly from europe .. and seemingly stuck in a time period other then ours. 40s maybe? if there's a large jewish population from russia in your area, i'd say you were right. and she was lucky to escape alive with her furs from there. she appears old enough to have experienced the holocaust in europe. even the dress that hangs below the coat appears very old. i just love this picture

I don't know about her being Jewish, but she has Russian written all over her in this fabulous capture of the young lady, as she strolls the promenade, ostentatiously clad in unusual garb for that particular milieu, Andrea. Maybe she just craves attention. And, love the color and lighting effects.

'eastern'. 1 doesn't see that so often nowadays! looks like the real stuff. i happen to have a coat of the same 'material', without the scaloped edges. my warmest, xtremely dense. remains of a bear??? :'-((( and guilty, yes, i'm a veggie. animals are for us to LOVE, not wear!!!!! remarkable pic, wonderful capture!!

I see children in short sleeves and she may be over dressed. It is a beautiful coat and she may be going somewhere that takes her away for the evening. She may need the extra warmth on the way home!
