Description
America is under siege from some majorly rare "Polar Vortex".... It's already cold here in North Carolina but expecting MUCH colder.....Tuesday night has a forecast low of 5 degrees...I can't even begin to fathom how my wonderfully drafty 1896 farmhouse will handle those temps. I love life on the edge..... :)
"He who marvels at the beauty of the world in summer will find equal cause for wonder and admiration in winter.... In winter the stars seem to have rekindled their fires, the moon achieves a fuller triumph, and the heavens wear a look of a more exalted simplicity". ~John Burroughs, "The Snow-Walkers," 1866

when I was a child, our home had no insulation and only a gas stove for heat. my mother would turn it off so we could breath. I know the house would drop int the low 20's , but outside many times it was below zero. a friend of mine and myself would go camping, I never heard a forecast and he heard but they made no mention of snow. it was in the 30's when we left, but the following morning there was deep snow and temperature was below zero around 8 minus. lucky neither of us fell climbing climbing the hill to get to his car, but I had no gloves and I had minor frostbite on my hands. for several years my hands would hurt from the cold weather

This is fantastic, terrific, funny and unique Cynthia. An outstanding capture. I like these critters. This turned out great. Wonderfully written. The lighting is perfect. I love simple and sweet. Truly cracks me up. I moved from Utah for my health and also, I hate the cold winters there. I am at sea level here so as to breath easier because of C O P D. Chronic Obstructive Pulminary Disease. It is 5000 ft. there. Really farout image. Huggs... Silkylady...
