Really sad but an excellent capture. Perhaps one for the January contest for 'C' being Christmas is mentioned!

You really captured an emotional piece here. And yes, on the surface it appears sad. I personally don't feel sad when I see people like this. A lifetime of bad choices, wrong turns, foolishness, and such led them to this point. I often look at something like this and wonder at all the possibilities there could have been. How many failed opportunities did they walk past? How many people walked past this lonely looking person? And how many times did she not simply turn to them and smile and wave and make a new friend. Then again on the flip side of that, she might have set this up because shes just seeking attention. Or it could be something deeper, there is a bottle of wine, I think, near the tree. Perhaps I'll prefer just to think something noble about her instead. Perhaps she comes to this beach, the beach that she once walked with her love on, the love that is now gone, sacrificed in some war, or accident that took him early in life. And now she comes here once every year to toast the memory that once was. Either way, you captured a magnificent photo.
