Description
These shots were taken by me in the 80,s when working on the overhead cranes in the Concorde hanger at Heathrow Airport.
I have also entered this in the January Challenge for the letter 'C'.
I must point out that the job I did was a short contract job for an electrician. I wasn't going to refuse that job was I !!!!!

She was indeed a great aircraft, when i was in the RAF as a mule/tug driver, I had the privileged task of towing one of these out of a hanger. She was an experimental. Devoid of seats and filled with shall we say electronic instruments, painted in camo. Well I dare not say anymore, don't fancy the men in black from the air ministry knocking on my door :) Nice shots Jeff.

God I love anything to do with Concorde. I remember them so fondly, although I was never rich enough to fly on one! I did see them all lined up at Heathrow in 1990, and remember seeing a few in-flight. That's the closest I ever got!

It was a costly dream and a wonderful plane

outstanding captures. a pilot of Concords for Braniff was a volunteer at a local air museum. I talked with him and it was so interesting. he was a champion aerobatic pilot also flying his own plane that he personally built. it was on static display but still air worthy

Here we have an aircraft that by rights should still be flying, it should have sold hundreds, and had hundreds of pre-orders! But, because certain U.S. groups and companies did not 'like' it, or were just plain jealous of it, they stopped it flying there for years.. And now, it its by far the most famous Airliners ever main.. They (the U.S. people love it).. Amazing huh? I find it awful (among otherwise unprintable words here) that such a thing could happen.. And, why was this aircraft grounded by the Government here when it was making money? I've seen the queues at Duxford and other places, of people waiting to get on these aircraft just to look.. And, WHY have the French kept one in airworthy condition and the U.K. has not! Figures huh? Thanks Jeff.. Sorry to bemoan a lose like this.. Rob

Cool montage my friend and with the crash of my main PC - I lost close to 1,000 converted slides. Never got around to backing them up to one of my external drives.

Electrician: the most exciting job;) Lucky you! Great catch! - Both job and the plane. The bird is a perfect example of what I fell the crazy, star-reaching soul of late 1960s and 1970s.
