Description
Captured 1/8/14, several moments after exiting the congenial and comforting confines of my condominium complex.
About as close to stormy weather as we've received all season.
Extremely cool when viewed via ZOOM.

Not exactly stormy, unless you mean a storm of gorgeous sky; not much in the way of inclement weather to be seen there, Harry! What a marvelous configuration of clouds being bathed in precious golden light! Excellent capture!

Really nice responses here. All 3 of these sunrise shots are sweeping. And I've liked the low patches of ground in each one, emphasizing not only the sweep of sky itself, but the wholly-southern-climes silhouettes of palm trees against the horizon. They're like big punctuation marks at the bottom of the scene. But you captured, in the sweep, the full gown of sun and clouds and sky, by leaving the sun in one low corner and letting the sky sweep out from there. The punctuation of trees is a beautiful "ground" for the image; and you have a little bit of branch on the far left---up from the bottom---which is a pleasant surprise; as are the partly "eaten" branches below it. (Eaten by the sun, that is.) Very rich blues in that sky, and those golden ambers remind one where those hues come from in your many early shadow shots...though your light, in those, has a character all its own. Beautiful and sweeping, and deserving of the praise it received. And, as a photographer of sunrises (me), I can affirm that it's harder to shoot sunrises against city streets than against large lakes; the latter nearly make the shot 'for' you, whereas the former demand much from the photographer. You've incorporated the streets into the shot very naturally.
