January 2013
Been at this site five years now and have seen a lot of growth - both artistically and spiritually thanks to the many good friends I have met here. I work with Poserpro2012, photoshop CS6, PSPX2, Perfect Effects 3 and Photomatrix 4. I love working in the material room and continue to find lots of growth there. I also do a lot of postwork fixing, special affects, and framing, all for which photoshop is indispensible. I love doing postwork; no image is anywhere near complete without it.
In the last year or so I've added quite a bit of photography to my gallery. I started with a Nikon Coolpix 9100 point and shoot. It gives amazing quality and its small size makes it easy to pack around and just grab some shots as they come into my vision. I still use it for sneaky people shots but now I use a Nikon D5100 DSLR for my more serious keeper work. Had I known how all consuming my passion for photography would become I should have jumped to a D600 low end pro camera. In my gallery you will see mostly storylines based upon my own visions and versions of Mesopotamian Mythology, sprinkled with some Celtic works and an occasional pinup or two and quite a few special requests. I have long been a writer, though a terrible speller, and so most of my images come with a storyline or poem. No image seems complete to me without words to accompany them.In high school I trained in both the Sciences and Fine Arts but when I went to university I had to choose one or the other and so I went with the life sciences. Art dropped out of my life for a long time... though I never gave up my interest in archeology and mythology. I wound up with a graduate degree in the life sciences with majors in physical geography, ecology and evolutionary biology. My love of nature and a deep naturalistic spirituality eventually led me to the wikkan tradition. Some five and a half years ago I discovered poser after coming across some great 3-d art on the web and after some six months of stumble bum practice I joined this site.Doing this type of art has released many visions and stories that were locked up inside my soul for many ages. It has allowed me to explore the life and times of my primal spiritual ancestor, a girl also named Roxanne, who lived in the Sumerian regions. She whispers the stories of these classic legends in my mind and I create the images to go with them.My stories are mostly written as dialogue and they tend to be rather long. So grab a coffee, a tea or better yet a beer, kick back, relax and stay a while.I hope you enjoy your stay here.Hugs and blessed beRoxy

Like every place else on Earth, Paris is being covered with nasty pollution in it's skies. Hell it's hard to see the sky at all these days with all the highrises, cell towers, billboards..etc.. crying shame.

Contrails or no, it's still a great, well composed photo, Roxy! Maybe it's just my warped sense of artistic interpretation, but I think it's much more interesting with the contrails/clouds than if it was just a bald sky. The contrails almost seem to form a star shape in the sky - and it adds to the imposing presence of the tower. The sweeping curve of the stone bannister leads the eye right to the tower. Then the eye gets to play in the sky for a while before going back to Paris's famous landmark. This is brilliant.

You are right Rod, now that I look more closely I see what looks like a giant pentagram in the sky. Interesting what the human eye can create from random patterns!! The lines are better than a flat blue sky.

I agree with RodS. The way the clouds have formed add something to the overall image. A nice softness to contrast the harsher metal and stone prominent from the tower and foreground. While still keeping with the more linear formation showing through the image. A bright clear sky would feel like empty space to me in this photo. Much better than the snapshot I got during a quick drive through Paris. Having about 10 minutes to not get hit by traffic while still getting a good shot of the tower. :) The overall composition and POV are very nice.

I really do like this shot as well. even with the contrails

For me they are chemical trails and not normal contrails and "they" created a specific sign in the sky. Lovely b/w eiffel capture!!! :0)

excellent

Excellent capture Roxy and I love the B/W. It adds almost that Lithograph effect. Very nicely done!!!

Roxie, I really enjoyed reading Rod's observations and your response to them. Nice job capturing this slightly sad scene.

Excellent Image,

Interesting photo in many ways. Photography is supurb (great job) and showing this sky were the jet streams ( contrails)from all the planes coming and going and the layers of the planes on their own flight paths. Looks like a freeway going in and out of DeGaul airport. One thinks what is in those contrails when they settle to the ground especially around a busy airport. We live in a rural area and can sit and watch this kind of pattern of planes traveling across Canada. Excellent image Roxy.

The Eiffel tower is such an icon I don’t think of it as ugly. As for the contrails I agree with the other comments and I like how the geometric lines of the trails and tower contrast of the and curved railing. Very nice capture!

Yep you should have said you waited on purpose for the pentagram to appear! It adds interest for me. The contrails are only water vapour and don't worry me.

Perfect example of how must be taken photos!

A great capture of that famous monument :-) Fortunately, I live in the South of France, in a small town .... far from Paris :-)

Actually I don't think those contrails are at all awful in this particular interest (although the B&W and title reminded me of Ansel Adams' own hatred of what he called sky worms). It is a beautiful composition and photo, contrails included. I actually like that odd distinct hatching of the contrails, playing like a ghost of technology in the background against a scene which otherwise might well have been indistinguishable from one taken 100 years ago. It not only adds to the richness of the image but adds an ironic note as well. Bravo, Roxy! Great image!

A very different view, and a great result.!

Great B/W image - it reminds about "The Ugly Duckling" story! ;o)

I'm way behind on comments, but better late than never, right? The Eiffel Tower has been photographed so many times that it's difficult to come up with a fresh take on it & you've done an admirable job of it here. Visually, the contrails make the sky more dramatic & the balustrade in the foreground & Seine in the midground are very nice compositional features. A very fine photo...
