Description
Despite the name this model was never ordered by the Army. Colt was hoping they would buy this model but they went with the M1911 instead. During WWII it made a revival when the production for the M1911 fell short. It saw service with police forces and civilian use under various names, barrel lengths, calibers and was a very popular revolver. The frame was discontinued in 1969. The grips are hard rubber. This model, over 100 years old, some surface pitting,a clean barrel and the action is still very good. I'll probably have to reduce the powder load to shoot.
update: took it to the range with 158 gr. lead SWC and 3 gr. HS-6 and pulled a moderate tight group at 15 yards
Read that these small loads should use faster burning powder so I'll try that next.

Interesting. In Australia, I would never be allowed to own anything like this!
