Description

Humankind thought it had time and population grew and grew. Myriads of people had to be housed and nourished and so those housing areas grew dense. Than all of a sudden the unthinkable happened: the biggest magma chamber on earth blew up. Weeks and weeks it erupted and spewed its thick ashes high in the air. The ashes were travelling with the winds around the earth getting thicker and thicker and blocking the sunlight. Millions of humans, animals and plants died. The surviving created protective cities without windows and the entries underground to keep the still travelling ashes and the cold out. Plants were grown in artificially lit places and rarely seen by the public. But the green, oh the green, was not only missing for physical nourishment but also for mental health. And so those floating memories were created. Memories of the green, which once existed all over the planet - to be shown to the children like little Tom here, who put on his breathing device this morning and followed his guardian to see the wonders with his very own eyes.... Created for a contest in the Vue Scifi group on FB :) Credits: Andy posed in Poser 2010, the Kids from daz, Clambrella by The Ant Farm as breathing device, scifi suburb blocks by Rodluc, glasscontainer for tree created by me in Vue

Fantastic image and great concept. A case where we don't destroy our selves, but mother nature always has a surprise in store. This is scary, because it's very real. The magma chamber under Yellowstone could blow up in a thousand years or just a year, and we wouldn't really have time to do anything. In days, the sun would be blocked and in weeks a worldwide and long winter would begin. Likely for years. Just from one supervolcano. Not to mention there are at leas seven know super volcanoes around the world.
