January 26th is Australia Day and who better to represent our national day than the merry, merry king of the bush himself, the laughing Kookaburra.

in an aquarium in Dallas they have a tropical rain forest display and at least one of these birds. it follows the care taker around hoping for some food. maybe just because the bird feels a bond with the employee superb capture

Fantastic shot of this somewhat odd, but charming bird. I've never been to Australia, but I will be celebrating Australia Day by watching the men's final of the Australian Open, which I recorded last night - so don't tell me who won! Nadal is a heavy favorite & I like him, but I almost always root for the underdog & the possibility of an upset always makes it interesting...
