Hi everybody,
My name is Dana Pommet and my wife’s name is Josephine. I was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in 1942, and except for a tour in the Navy, lived there for most of my life. I retired to Delray Beach, Florida in December 2000. We love to travel and photography goes hand and hand with that. I went digital about 5 years ago and started posting November 22, 2008. I have met so many wonderful people on RR and that makes this whole process so much more interesting than just posting photos. Thanks for all the comments and keep them coming.
Update  January 2012: After hiding and denying my mild Dyslexia, for most of my professional life, and now fighting with its advancement – I want to thank you all for putting up with my poor typing skills and spelling problems. I know that my spell checker hates me and I now depend completely on audio books rather then actually reading printed books.  Life marches on!  ÂÂ

Wonderful image, Dana I'm glad that you and Nonni are doing well; that is great news indeed! you still have those slides, right? to rescan?

Sorry to say Mike, I threw them away as I scanned them. There were thousands and so many were damaged by almost 50 years in very hot attics. I was almost finished with the dates and subjects so I was only a few weeks from backing them up to one of my external drives. A hard lesson learned!

I'm glad you are feeling better mate. I have Tachycardia, so I know it can be a worry. Re photos on computers, I backup everything up to 3 separate external hard drives!

I am glad that you are both doing better. Great color of this flower Dana. Have you thought about backing up your scanned photos on an external hard drive?

A lovely cheerful flower to celebrate some excellent news!

Glad to hear you have some good news on the health front, as for the lost photos I can only echo the other two comments, backup on external hard drives they are cheap enough and keep one hidden well away from your laptop or it could get stolen or destroyed along with it. This is a lovely flower it will brighten up my day.

It does look like Gaillardia! Good news for you and your mother in law but sad about the scans being lost because I know how much time it took just to scan them, let alone what you may have done in editing. I guess it's Finnegan begin again time! Good to have you back with us and well!

Great to hear you and Mother in law are doing better Dana and a shame about your pictures. This is a nice picture showing a lot of little flowers within the flower !

Well, that's a lot of hard and mundane type of work gone ... ;( sorry, to read that Dana, my guess, another lesson learned ! BTW - we always have a hard-drive backup system, Jeff is suggesting to remove the drive from your old laptop and you might be able to recover the files ... if you need more help, just ask him! Glad, also to read - that you are slowly on the mend - after a few major setbacks ;) Take care, BB
