here I painted three people with three violins. someone told me they had a hard time finding three people. oh well.

Wonderful composition and acrylic work in this painting of the three violinists, Jock. The one in the middle is taking a break from it all. Maybe she broke one of the strings on her violin.

Re not being able to see the three people---well, we can't see three 'faces', but there are definitely 3 people here, because there are 3 violins and hands to go with them. Maybe being a musician makes it easier for me...In any case, I love your musician paintings! The surfaces of the violins are painted with gentle sweeps, yet they meld beautifully. You've got the deep red of the violin-finish, but you also put in yellows, brighter reds, peach tones, etc. And beautiful contrasts with the dark fingerboards and bows. And you divided the background with this saturated blue next to all that light yellow and green. You do these contrasts so well, Jock: They make your backgrounds as alive as your foregrounds. And then there's your composition---a very photographic pov (one of many you've painted), and I just love it: 3 musicians crammed into one side, making so much intensity: Then it just opens up to light and space. That's music, right there. Another wonderful painting of musicians, Jock: It must be really powerful to see a whole roomful of these at once. I just love your work.
