The Chance Vought F4U Corsair was an American fighter aircraft that saw service primarily in World War II and the Korean War. 12,571 F4U Corsairs were manufactured in the longest production run of any piston engined fighter in U.S. history from 1942 to 1953. Performance maximum speed 417 mph (671 km/h), range 1,015 mi (882 nmi (1,633 km)), service ceiling 36,900 ft (11,247 m). Armament 6 × 0.50 in (12.7 mm) AN/M2 Browning machine guns, 4 × 5 in (12.7 cm) high velocity aircraft rockets and/or 2,000 pounds (910 kg) of bombs. This is very nice Dana and I guess you couldn't get any other angle than this. That's good, because it looks like a flyby! My oldest son is in the USAF and is now in So. Korea and is assigned to an F-16 Fighting Falcon. When he was in Afghanistan, he was on an F-15 Strike Eagle. So he would appreciate something like this and I will send it to him in an email, letting him know you took the picture. Great shot and thanks!

Great shot Dana! You just happened to grab one of my favorite WWII war planes, this and the P-38 Lightning! I might add that the reason for the bent wing design was to have the landing gear closer to the ground while accommodating the oversize propeller that was used on this aircraft.
