Description

so much for chronological order... ;-D pic # 80584 (no typo *blush*) -pa stork bowing in opposite direction- astounded to find storks never immigrated to the UK so for all friends in the United Kingdom, the sound of a stork 'here': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2JvPOE7iFk (Holland? !! LOL) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTpdly5INC0 babies' 1st lessons in bill clattering and for all that are not in the UK and may have never seen this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeHmqKoisT4 from Earth Flight/Winged Planet ASTONISHING!!!!! a must see!! (storks in it too) storks are mute. bill clattering is an important mode of stork communication at the nest. (but their tongue has an unusual shape as well, looks as if there is an extra bone there, like a hammer? -will show u later?- ) they are xtremely polite n will greet each other every time one of them returns to (or leaves) the nest. and sometimes even their kids. also when other storks are flying over, all will clatter. (there have been stork wars over the nest and even over ma stork. -even here storks are seldom /'never' seen. but they'll find each other?-). when I became familiar, pa stork would greet me too. (I would say: "heyyyyy..." n he would go 'click click' -no gymnastics! ;-) - ) TYallSM for your wonderful comments (& fav.s!) on previous pics!! (must run now, will try to catch up on commenting later?!). have a nice day (-night when in Oz, NZ or Hawaii)!!!

Still stalking storks, I see. Great shot of the parents, the eggs, and that humongous nest, Angie. What an odd scene, with one on them playing contortionist while trying to get, or get rid of, a crick in the neck. Most cool.

How wonderful, I remember them from Germany, when I was a little girl! Here in Australia, the nearest thing to it, is the 'Black-necked Stork' (Ephippiorhynchus asiaticus), also known as the 'Jabiru' ... thanks for sharing this info Ine, BB (I will try to visit Jacomina & Karel in Holland as well, maybe you would be interested to meet up, with all of us ???) ;)))
