Description

There are all sorts of life forms, plant & animal, scattered on these rocks. Taken in Yachats, one of my favorite towns on the Oregon coast. My original shot had a little bit of sky at the top, but I found that when I compressed it to fit in the 500kb, it was unacceptably pixelated. I tried all sorts of things to reduce the pixelation - blur filters, the reduce noise filter, etc. - but couldn't get rid of it. So finally, I just cropped the sky out. Anyone have any magic tricks up their sleeves for dealing with pixelated skies? Please zoom.

fly pixel kites? I dunno! Great image here - the cropping forces us to look at the rocks a bit closer thus seeing the magic therein

I also love Yachats. I have only been there twice, but would love to return someday.

I like the crop method, as stated it does draw attention to the rocks. Depending on the makeup of the sky (clouds, etc.) there are a few things I try, such as selecting the sky, refining the edge with feathering etc., jumping to a new layer and blurring the heck out of it. Or replacing it completely. The crop works very very well here!
