Description
Whilst I was in the middle of downloading some MOLA data ( MOLA -- Martian Orbital Lander Altimeter) I thought I might as well knock up some sort of image to show what I thought the numbers might look like once I got them into Terragen.. The results are looking interesting and if they come out worth seeing I'll certainly post them here. Meanwhile this might indicate my thoughts on the matter. (Incidentally, the earth is visible if you look carefully)

the red planet (in my zodiac Aries) looks very realistic I think, never been there :)

Good light and camera placement, too much empty space in the sky is throwing this off IMO

Great Mars render. I'd be interested in knowing more about where you got the MOLA data. I use the Terrain Editors of Bryce and Vue to create my Martian scenes but the trouble with them is that they turn some dark colored ridges into deep valleys and some light colored banks or valleys into high ridges. I'd like to get some Mars DEMs but they don't seem to be available, except in special programs that use unique formats of their own.
