Affect is a verb
"Cuando vienes por mi?", she asked
once again, the last time we spoke.
~
She had given up, on Us
moved on - found someone.
She took him south, to
a small, country town.
They bought a house
and started a family.
We stayed in-touch, as the
years passed; by phone.
~
"Rick is a good man", she
would say, with a caring tone.
Always being careful to stop
and leave out the - "...but"
Usually, she would follow with
"Cuando vienes por mi?"
(Each time, I sensed that she always
truly believed in - the possibilities)
~
She departed this realm, last October.
Aortic Aneurysm started her spiral, down
Doctors and her willpower provided
her with ten additional years of life.
Right after her surgery, she would kid me,
"You know that you Broke my Heart, right."
"Cuando vienes por mi?"
again, she would plead.
~
Verily, IT[thewaiting], continues until
no one is left behind - to remember.
