Description

“Oh Mama! Puck’s on the roof, what do we do?” “Stay next to the fireplace, as long as you are in a mother’s arms you can’t be taken.” “Make him go away, Mama?” “Grammy used to put bread on the porch and a corn offering in the field, but I stopped years ago, I thought it was just another of Grammy’s tales.” “Papa, don’t open the door.” “Brock, don’t you dare unbolt that door.” “All we have to do is guess his name and he gives us treasure.” “Don’t be silly Papa, that’s Rumpelstiltskin.” “Oh, I never believed Pappy’s stories either, I didn’t really listen.” “He can’t be that strong, can he?” “He’s Prince of Fae and Lord of the Forest, Papa, he is that strong.” “Talk to him, Brock, promise him something.” “Hey Puck, we promise to leave an offering if you leave us alone.” “What have you to give, mortal?” “My wife just made a pie, will that do?” “Open the door and give me the pie.” “No, I will only open this door by the light of day, the pie will be on the porch tomorrow night.” “And what of each night after that, mortal?” “I’ll leave the offering in the field after each harvest, and the loaf of bread after each baking.” “Deal, never forget me again, mortals.”

I love it that someone recognizes what litaerary influence drives many of my stories, though I did make this one very obvious.

And the pie saves the day! :) What a sweet little story and image! I like the entire scene! It looks magical and wrought with adventure within the unseen darkness. Excellent creativity!

A deal is a deal, but all too often, details are lost. Our feeble and at time greedy impulses do us in all the time! A most excellent episode and fine art piece!

Terrific silhouette work, and the window in the house adds a nice touch.
