Description

Ok I know this has been done over and over. But it was on Sale, and I've always wanted an Indian Girl... Kind of the American Dream Girl. Hmmmm well maybe. Thanks for stopping by.

Nice work! :) The girl is very beautiful. Just a thought - the glass vase looks like it has smoothing disabled. I'm guessing that's the "Clear Glass" material from the Live DB? A lot of the materials in the Live DB don't have smoothing enabled by default, usually you'll want to enable it unless you're dealing with a flat surface or faceted gemstone - that's why the vase looks very polygonal.

Agree about the glass... scan you images with a fine tooth comb. Somebody will find the flaws you overlook. Like those beads on her arm band... do they swing? Like gravity doesn't work that way. Always consider gravity if you can... the next lesson in realism. All in all.. a good depth of field going on her, but then.. that's a super easy thing in Octane... it's just getting the distance right.

I can't offer anything technical... but I know I like it. And yeah that glass looks amazing.

while there is that non-smooth surface on the glass, I think it looks great, but then that's me. Over all, a wonderful image She looks great

Another great one, Rick! Re the beads and gravity, I agree that one must always consider gravity. But looking closely, zooming the "Zoom" on the iPad Retina screen, I see the beads standing out from her arm, as they would if she had turned quickly, startled at a sound, and hadn't yet finished their swing and settled. So the "out" part is plausible and real-looking. But if that's the case, the leather string (as you've most likely picked up now) would be still "whipping" as it were, moreso at the bottom than at the top owing to the (assumed) weight of the pieces on the bottom. Also, since nits are being picked (remember, Rick I've never even done a render and I also don't know how much realism you're going for but that I'm looking at this and commenting after looking at the above comments and remembering your apparently sincere request from your PEERS for advice - it's okay to tell me to go to blazes publicly -or privately- if you want to and no offense will be taken), owing to the color of the beads I'm going to assume they're Turquoise. Stones used in Native American jewelry as far as I know were rarely worked to size, but sorted by color, hue, shape, and size and made into an adornment. I'm assuming that this armband was perhaps "pre-rendered" and added to the arm of your oh-so-beautiful Native American-themed figure. Imho, if it was I'd can it and make one yourself, seeing to it that the beads were irregular in shape and that the triangular ones at the bottom weren't perfect either. Where the delicate, thin rope bands wrap her upper arm I'd have it follow the musculature and bring out her tricep a bit more if you're going for a bit more realism in that respect. Personally, smoothing or no smoothing I'd get rid of the glass jar completely, being completely off-theme and replace it with a pottery vase dressed with just a bit of a design of some type so as not to distract the observer from or clutter the view of the girl. Lastly, the background... It's "out of focus " rather than good use of DOF I usually see in your renders. Otherwise...WOW! Again I emphasize I'm not a renderer like you are, or even an artist. Consider the above as just what someone in a gallery might pick out as they pause and admire the work in passing. My only other creds are that I'm part Cherokee and that one of my majors was Geophysics at college.

It looks like you have enough feedback to absorb on this one, so I will just say "Nice job, I like".

Cool render. The vase does look out of place for a Native American scene, but I can see you put it in there to add some extra "life" to the image. I'm also not sure that the girl is Native American either, but not being from America I could be wrong. But this is all just "nit picking". The render looks great, very realistic, and more to the point, nice to look at, which after all is what we are all really trying to achieve.
