Description

Taken at a local farm stand/bakery. The exterior is funky, but their produce, pastries & cookies are delicious... Please zoom.

A great scene, bet a lot of people stop just because of that "funky" exterior! Excellent shot!

god do I love this shot! It may be a funky exterior (with great goods inside), but the pic has a flat-on almost abstract collage quality about it, a construction made of pieces of a house and the lives that live in it. It's the flush-forward nature of your shot that makes everything stand out so; and the equal attention to detail in each plane/each section; and the sharpness of your hues, and that you don't let-up in any section; and the swath that you chose---what you chose to show, of this exterior---all of these give us an in-one's-face chunk of a very busy facade. It's just wonderful. Artists made physical collages like this, in the last century: miniatures that packed-in all kinds of pieces of life. And it also has a Depression Era feel---not because it's impoverished, but because of the no=frills look of so many storefronts in those days. (No frills: But they wound up looking very rich.) You framed this so well, and balanced the details so well. Just love this shot, I popped out of my chair when it went up. Terrrrr-ific. (Here are two links to famous Depression Era storefront shots. Both Walker Evans, one of the famous black-and-white photographers of that time, one of the Farm Security Administration photographers. Not the best jpgs, but it gives the idea. Storefronts and ad-walls without the intrusion of corporate logos, modern slickness, etc. Note, I can't activate links, as that's no longer possible in comments now---so you'll have to cut and paste. But if you're interested, these are typical of the time: http://www.bronxbanterblog.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/original-7.jpg http://onwardtoourpast.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Farm-Security-Admin-photo.jpg)
