Description

A victim of the St Valentine's Night storm in my road. The owners are very pleased..they have wanted it down for ages but were not allowed as there is a Tree Preservation Order on every tree in our district thicker than a man's arm. Hence the expression..."it's an ill wind that blows nobody any good." See the root ball Here

I wonder if the authorities, as they love the tree so much, will cut it up and carry it away !!!

There goes another rubber tree plant! Well now, I see the old timer took somewhat of a tumble in this quasi arboreal pic, Andrea. And, the use of 'ill wind' is most commonly in the phrase 'it's an ill wind that blows nobody any good'. This is first recorded in John Heywood's A dialogue conteinyng the nomber in effect of all the prouerbes in the Englishe tongue, 1546: "An yll wynde that blowth no man to good, men say." Fantastic captures. I would hate to have to clean up that mess, always sad to see a nice tree fall when it's healthy but we have had so much rain the root support of some tree's is weakened by the soft soil... probably this summer they will have the audacity to impose a hosepipe ban!.. the excuse.. "We did not have the right kind of rain". Glad things have calmed down a bit now.

mother nature does have a way of taking things into her own hands!! i just paid a guy a lot of money to top a very big fir tree, but if i'd let the wind do it, i think i would have lost a lot more!!!

It does look like it is leaning against the house. I can see why your neighbors were worried about it. Nice capture of this almost disaster.
