Description

this is the lake Charles graveyard. It is been taken care of The Daughters of the confederacy. Lot of old graves here and many fight in the war between the states. Some was moved here because of a gambling place wanted to build on a site that had some graves. That sad to hear stuff like that. But the gambling place is closed down today have been for a long time.

Great capture and interesting narrative - made me think of the movie, 'Poltergeist' where the developer moved the headstones but not the graves

A wonderful historical site my friend. We had a period in Australia where all the pubs filled their rooms with poker machines........I'm so glad to report that most of the establishments have reverted back to their traditional ways!

Great work on this capture Jock, and I agree with you on what a travesty it is to disturb a graveyard for a business concern.

What a shame the graves have been vandalised - no respect for the dead !! Nice shot Jock.

Nice shot. In my town, someone wanted the land where an old cemetery stodd and just moved all the graves to another cemetery. They then built a house there. I would not want to live in it.

Interesting foto, Jock. Strangest cemetery I've ever seen, maybe because it doesn't look crowded like most.

better they move the graves than simply build on top. nearly 2000 graves here was built over by streets. only when the streets were under replacement did they find the graves, of course they were known about years ago, but they paid no heed
