Description

A couple of you have been wondering what I'm doing in my "Diploma of Digital and Interactive Gaming" ( I've been wondering myself...LOL) well I've built two levels using the Unreal Development Kit, the first one with a maze and hidden treasure room...well, a floating cube with a Roller Babes texture and a landscape one, which was about 10 times the size of the first one, except the landscape one had two Bots hidden in different locations and they were really deadly ! This next unit has me learning 3ds Max and Mudbox...and man, there's a lot to learn !!! Did projection mapping first (transferring high res mesh details onto a low polygon mesh. Then we had to copy the video exactly of making a box to use as an asset in UDK and a custom version using the same techniques, plus a report on all the new stuff we had learned...WHEW ! Anyhow here are some screen grabs of the different parts of the assignment. BTW I made two custom versions of the box , because we were told to check out CGsphere.com for inspiration and I thought wow, I can do that...but not in Max yet, so I modelled the Boxing glove in Mudbox and imported it back into Max, added a wall, poster and nail for the final render. Cheers jif3d :o)

Sounds like a lot of brain exploding work! :-) Which version of Unreal will the maps work on & will they be available to download when finished?

I concur with 'Lenord' - and it's a long way to the top, if you want to rock'n'roll ... or animate ;) poor ol' Sylvester looks a bit punch-drunk - you would be too, if being hit by square boxing gloves LOL ! cool modelling, BB

sooo, that's how it's done! sounds like you be having a blast even though it's taking away valuable time that you could be playing guitar, surfing, or just laying on the beach... what did your teachers say when you showed them your portfolio?
