I love love love this Carol, and the way you magnified the head studies of those wonderful big cats by placing them on the same background cutting out a circle, enlarging and using a drop shadow, cleverly allowing the Cheetah's head to lean out of the circle. Also love how you matched up the layer below too as regards the clouds, all to give the image even more interest. Here it works so very well indeed creating a masterpiece, very well done my friend. hugs Jane xx

I love Jane's comment, she got at the heart of what you do so beautifully. So you know, THIS was the type of composition I originally tried for, in my dedi for you. And when you posted this, I looked at it and thought: "Duuude! You'll NEVER do an image like this!" That freed me, lol. (It's very hard having your art as a goal to reach!) But, here's the kind of grouping you do so splendidly. The four creatures lined up so demonstratively, and with such clarity. And how they're contained within the circle so well, until the last one (the cheetah) juts right out of it. And they're all separate but they make a single mass. I don't know how you get all this detail without needing to rest your eyes, but there's great detail in all four animals. And the manes mostly flow as a single river. And then you have the surrounding: In this piece---indigenous to the Savannah, I assume---your usual multi-layered flows and overflows bow to a simpler more open atmosphere, with broad swaths of those sandy reds and sandy oranges and sandy yellows. And where you do bring in your sensual brushwork, it's broader and with more longitudinal strokes. So as to give a feeling of "sweep" (ie, the savannah horizon). Beautiful yellows, big concentrated African reds and oranges (above the animals, left of center), and a beautifully articulated savannah landscape with giraffes, rhinos, etc, all slightly faded (perhaps blended into a background of some kind) so that it appears a bit like a dream, while still being clear. And those beautiful broad-branched trees. You took a broad emotional brush and brushed your usual waves of organic form into a kind of cosmic african sweep, with plenty of space and silence, and a beautiful desert-hued tone. Beautiful. And the shadow around the circle---kind of a dream catcher's circle without the symbols---makes the circle feel like a huge african sun, or like a plaque, or a very graphic element in this otherwise dream landscape. (When I studied african design and textiles, I was stunned at the hues they got: The most indescribable greens and reds and yellows---we just don't make those versions in the west---and these sandy desert-like browns, which aren't the bleached kind of the Middle East, but rather a very passionate reddish brown. You have those all over this piece.) Beautiful. A truly beautiful peace, with an overarching savannah hue that's very rich and very restful...

"Duuude! You'll NEVER do an image like this!" :O) That made me laugh out loud. I do love your sense of humor, and of course am thrilled beyond words with your comments. You really do honor me with your in-depth view of eveything. I enjoyed creating this as it was a true adventure trying to figure out how to make it all work - and I'm a big fan of the big cats. My dream is to someday travel to Africa - and until that dream comes true, I will create the fantasy of the majesty and beauty of the land and it's majestic animals.
