I always wonder at this strangeness of the human condition that the person that we were once totally in love with, the person we thought was perfect and made our hearts sing can then wind up being the person that we absolutely hate the most. Most people fundamentally to not change their core persona over the course of their lives so how is it that we can both totally love and totally hate the same person? It must be a fundamental flaw in our own perceptions for it is so universal and so mysterious. What function could it serve? Such a universal behaviour must have strong selective value. Perhaps it is to ensure that you mate with multiple partners thus broadening your genetic stock.
