Mark, first of all let me say that even though they appear to be having a disagreement the photo is sensational. The ladies colorful outfit sets the tone for this image perfectly as it is in perfect contrast with the backdrop of the water. The bright red shirt bundled up around his neck also adds to the intensity of the image. The short distance they are standing apart tells me that it may be a simply matter of hurt feelings, as the lady appears to be reaching out to him here. Judging by the look on her face, I would assume she was the more rational one at the moment and hopefully able to calm the situation. (We men do get our feelings hurt rather easily, and often times it is left up to the lady to soothe a bruised ego)

I can think of one thing the lady on the right is excoriating the gentleman about, but it would be inappropriate for me to post it here. After all, this is a family website. That said, terrific clarity, color and contrast in this photo, Mark, which definitely includes the beautifully textured aquamarine water, evoking a warm feeling of comfort. And, the dark images of the debating participants really pop out in this brilliant shot. Incidentally, my presence on Renderosity will probably be erratic or nonexistent for days to come, because I'm going through the ritual of using a new computer, which entails tons of data transfer and acclimation to the new operating system, among other things. Wish me luck.

Oh wow, I just LOVE this shot. It's so real, so full of life; I can almost hear her talking to him. And the backdrop of the lake is a perfect contrast to that wonderfully colorful dress she's wearing. Oh yeah, I just LOVE this!!!!

When you come up with such a photo, Mark, I love reading the comments. :-))) This is such an awesome shot. You cought two people having a ONE WOMAN conversation, as the man doesnt seem to want to talk to her. But I believe he is listening and she will at last convince him he was wrong, I am sure. It could be a Mother vs Son scene. I simply love it.

Brilliant! What a great candid, Mark! You must show us more of your work in this genre.

Great capture and contrasts in this photo. Don't know what they are saying but the body language says they are having one of those discussions that needs some distance and blue between them. I can remember many long walks on the beach while having 'one of those discussions'.

Nicely done candid, Mark; lots of emotion here, as well as the rich colours. Bravo!

A supershot Mark captured at the right moment great drawing power my friend!!

The way you've composed and cropped this, leaving the bulk of the empty space between them, speaks volumes about their conversation. You're better at this people thing than you've given yourself credit for!

great work

Fabulous capture and motif, Mark. I really like the obvious dialogue. Well seen and captured. That makes the photo come alive, and tell a story.

I'm fascinated by the comments here, but more fascinated by the photo itself, of course! What a candid capture, and I have to agree with AuntieK, Mark...maybe you don't give yourself enough credit for these "people in daily life" shots. Then again, this one feels more like a "people in daily strife" shot. :) Personally, I see a little too much "overbearance" here, to make any genuine progress. It's the posture. Her face bears this pleading look, but it isn't an open pleading, rather an accusatory one, and that one never does much good, no matter the topic, since it births defensiveness. But, it's the one hand on a hip and the other in air, that really strike me. Whew, I don't like conflict. So, I really wish she'd drop both hands, assume a more open posture, zip those lips, and walk to him, slowly wrapping her arms about his shoulders, saying..."Hey, we need to talk here. There's stuff to be said. Hear me out?" But, heat of the moment maybe. I really like this capture, Mark...it is perfect, my friend. It is perfect precisely because you have captured the ocean that separates them in this moment...the vastness of the space between them. How incredibly symbolic. The water is so perfectly representative of the emotional distance. So, it's altogether quite brilliant. Hmm, now I'm going to be humming, "The Water is Wide..." for the rest of today. Hmm, better yet, might be time to pull out Niamh Parson's version of it for a little listen. It's been awhile. Thanks for the memory jog. Hope you're doing okay, Mark. :)

I disagree with all of the comments above! (just kidding) This shot is superb. What movie is it taken from? The way the protagonists are "posed", the woman facing the man directly with raised hand and probably raised voice, the man with his body facing away and head only half turned towards her, arm raised defensively, and the gap between them, could very easily have been set up for a confrontational scene; but this is real life, real people, real emotion. And the vivid, crisp colours are just beautiful, almost belying the reality of the interaction. Outstanding photography.
