Description

We've had this frog for over 8 years. He lives in an aquarium and about once a month or so, he gets a sack of crickets. We had two of them, his partner died during the first year. This guy just keeps ticking and ticking. A couple of years ago we lost him and after three months we were ready to tear down the aquarium, but he was just doing a good job of hiding. Never, ever would I have thought that a frog could live so long!

We used to keep a firebelly toad like this about 35 years ago as youths - it shared a terrarium with some lizards which it used to boss around by lunging at them. As well as crickets I think we fed him houseflies. Nice photo.
