Description

Like "being saddled to a skyrocket"! Sounds like a pretty descriptive statement from the pilots of the English Electric (Later BAC) Lightning. The jackrabbit quick aircraft was the first supersonic aircraft capable of supercruise, the Lightning was renowned as an interceptor and featured a very unusual "stacked" twin engine configuration. When it was retired in the late 1980's the "rocket" had served as the RAF's primary interceptor for almost two decades. I guess I'd have to dedicate this one to Rob and Neil. Electric Lightning: Very nice model free on sketchup warehouse by PM3D with some kitbashing and retexture work by myself. Panavia Tornado: mandun free at the warehouse. C4d6+XL, Vue6Infinite, PS Cs3

The guys (especially Rob) are going to pass out when they see this. Stunning work Bill, the finish on the aircraft is amazing!

Excellent scene! I always thought this plane looked odd, but you cannot argue with success.

:-) Beaming from ear to ear mate....thanks Bill, I never got to see one fly but Rob introduced me to some 'grounded' ones. A truly stunning aircraft, even today, and a superb render, love what you've achieved here, a definite fave, thanks again....

O.K. Cheers! I won't go on about this one mate LOL I have had the massive pleasure of seeing (and hearing)(very important) them at airshows and on fast runs.. Never have I witnessed anything so quick of the mark! The Pilots of this carried maps to read, (no radar), they had to be the very best of all... It was even in the 80's, the goal of a Fighter Pilot to be posted to a Lightning Squadron.. God bless the Lightning, my all time fave aircraft! Rob

Great landing scene. Mmmm... not exactly a VTOL is it... that chute must have come in handy when landing a rocket!
