My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

I had no idea what is was, but the glow and the soft colors just grabbed me. One of those crazy things you see on the road!!

If you cut the tip off a conch shell and blow in it like a trumpet, it makes a sound... lets try it with that. On the other hand.. woah.. what's gonna crawl out of it.

jolie!

It is indeed very attractive! My first thought was of it being blown, and then of being passed round a circle of rather large people. I had a conch in the classroom for use in discussions. Only the person holding it could speak, apart from Miss of course.

It think it is very cool. I would love to see more of it.

That's very well done and a great roadside attraction!

I like the sinuous lines, the soft colors & the uncluttered simplicity of this. I agree that weird (& kitschy) can be beautiful. I don't discriminate between lowbrow & highbrow art...

an eye catching monster

Well, since I don't think a conch built this, I'd say it qualifies as architecture! LOL! Either way, this is a great shot, Tara! I love how you consistently find a new and unique view of things in your photos.

Weird, certainly. Beautiful - in your hands (viewfinder), undoubtedly!

A really fine capture, Tara, the light on that shell and the shade too make it look like big elephant ears, or a huge set of flower petals. It's unreal. And your pov makes it come at us from behind trees or bushes---like it's sneaking a peak at us while we sneak a peak at it. And you caught deep purple-reds in there, and even under one of the branches. Against that clear blue sky? A real eye popping presence! Beautiful, and beautifully composed---your crop is wonderful, allowing the creature to fill the shot and hover over us. Whatever it is (it's architecture if it's humanly built and people go inside it, I think), it's beautifully captured here! Love this shot.
