What an absolutely amazing scene you've captured here...I don't even know where to start in on the level of amazitude you've achieved! Suffice it to say I'm completely blown away by the subtle statement this makes. Well done you!

Denise has nailed it. Talk about a picture worth a thousand words. Or ten thousand. Or a whole thesis. Consumate skill, Mark.

I really like how you have captured the human aspect contrasted with the massiveness of civilization. Superb photo.

Wow. What a creative way to turn a night scene into an abstract, while still telling a very human story of loneliness in the midst of multitudes. As someone who has lived in large metropolitan areas most of my life (Paris, N.Y, San Francisco), I can attest to the fact that living in areas with great population densities does not necessarily mean that you're going to develop a lot of close relationships. In many cases, quite the opposite. Since moving to a sparsely populated rural area a little over 10 years ago, my wife & I have found that we have many more friends than we ever had living in big cities...

Awesome. Sometimes you have to really look hard to find the one lonely person who is often in the dark among a sea of lights. Then BANG they're right there in full sight. I love this.

Alone indeed and maybe expecting too. She looks so. What a fantastic image you have created here, dear Mark. It is so well spotted and captured and manipulated, as only you can do it. You never stop amazing me with your talents and skills. A brilliant piece of art. :-))))))))))

You already know how much I like this image, but it bears repeating. SO impactful, and so well done. All your artistic training seems to come together in just the right way when you have a camera in your hands. This is outstanding work!

Outstanding Mark most definitely great impact my friend!!

Mark, you certainly appear to have done it once again my friend. This is a marvelous presentation that achieves all the goals almost every artist and photographer in mind when they share their work. That is the photo does a magnificent job of catching the viewers attention and not letting go. This view of the cityscape at night along with the lights of the buildings dotting the sky make for an awe inspiring backdrop. Still, the most important thing about the photo is also the most obvious. That is the silhouette of the lady in the window, to which I find myself keenly studying every detail. That leads me to my point for what I feel is the most important thing about this photo. That is the viewer is not only left with wondering about the lady's situation, but also what is on her mind.

she's so tiny compared to the mass of houses

SUPERLATIVE WORK!

This is so good, so absolutely incredible I'm already running out of superlatives. How you caught the woman in the midst of all those other windows is amazing. wowowowowow!! I'm going to borrow everyone else's comments, because they all said it so very well. This is just fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I used way too many exclamation points, but every one of them expresses how much I love this!

Fabulous capture and motif, Mark. State of the art shot. I really love the mood in this. You have a fantastic and beautiful view from there.

Ohhhh! And as if this image itself doesn't already speak absolute fathoms...she is expecting, pregnant, too! Good gods, why don't you just take a photo of the "birth of modern civilization" in a single cityscape, why don't you?? Do you know precisely where I'd expect to find this image? Do you remember the old LIFE magazine...how oversized it was...all those lovely huge glossy pages filled with exquisite photo pictorials?? THAT is where this belongs...on the pages of LIFE. You should submit this to a juried exhibit, Mark...or even a publication. I'm never one to tell another what to do or not do with their creations...but I really am totally serious here. Yes, it IS that good. This is one of those once in a lifetime statement shots. Don't think..just do it. :)

How to turn a vibrant nighttime cityscape into a very personal untold tale - put Mark behind the lens! Fantastic shot!

Oh my, shades of the introduction of a Miramax movie in this stunning and sharply defined night scene captured from your rooftop, Mark. The woman below is either pondering her existence in the Windy City, or doing her laundry.
