Description

A lot of the photo's were damaged & thankfully this one was damaged where I could crop myself off :o) Little Penny as a puppy. Gill asked about mongrels, ALL these "designer" dogs ARE mongrels, with fancy made up names. I am sure people make the name up then go looking for the breeds. The person who bred the first Labradoodles states he wishes he had NEVER done the cross. Which was done in the beginning for the Guide Dogs of the Blind. I have NO problem with mongrels, what I do have a problem with is people crossing such breeds as St Bernards to Cavaliers, Rotties/Bull Mastiffs, some breeds put together could be dangerous & all the various Noodle Doodles. The people who breed these different dogs together have NO idea about the health issues in the breeds & let me tell you Cavaliers have. They state especially in the Labradoodle that they don't shed hair or good for people with allergies. It all depends on which side of the cross it takes after. My next door neighbour has a poodle/bichon, she let the bitch have pups, but the bitch has a bad mouth!!!! Also take a Cockerpoo, half the time the buyer hasn't a clue what a Cocker was bred for or a Poodle!!! Plus they can be anything from £500 - £1,000. What is the use of crossing a Springer with a Cocker, both gundogs & do the same job, maybe for the name Sprocker!!!! Puppy farmers are having a field day. OOOppppssss bet Gill wished she had never mentioned it :o) Really gets me MAD there are now rescues for these mongrels!!! Sorry if I have offended anyone by my rant!! Thanks for all the lovely comments & favs, so, so appreciated.

Definitely not offended, Barbara! Many folk aren't fit to have ANY dog if they can't be bothered to research. For example I am too old and live the wrong lifestyle for anything with collie in it, whereas it suits my brother perfectly.Even though all18 of mune have be rescues and mainly crossbreeds I am rather careful what I bring home! Hence the failure with that Parsons JRT!

Humans can be disgusting. History shows all species eventually go extinct. Nature has her checks and balances. Love your dog or just don't have one. I miss you so... Baby Amber

What a lovely capture of a cute puppy dog. I agree 100% with what you are saying, people can be ignorant, think nothing of the health conditions some breeds may have and by combining two breeds purely to try and create some trendy crossbred dog they are then imposing upon it potentially the ailments of both breeds. Such people do not care about animals and only about money. I have plenty of time for those who understand breeds of dog and are actively trying to breed out specific genetic problems in breeds or in some cases where the breed simply cannot be sorted out they are advocating they should be allowed to phase out.

Lovely shot of this puppy Barbara well done. I have to agree with you on the crossing of some of those dangerous breeds also and the need to look out for genetic failings in the breeds people cross..

Ha ha! that's my girl, you have a good rant about it, but I do agree that many of these cross bred dogs finish up with many health problems. When I bred pedigree dogs you have to know a lot about genetics and know exactly which male to put with your female, and the health of the dogs is always paramount in your mind, even then things don't always go according to plan, and it is then that the breeder has to accept the responsibility and deal with it responsibly. These fashionable cross bred dogs unfortunately often don't have such responsible people breeding them, they are just after taking money off people who just don't understand, it is a shame, because in the end it is the poor dogs that often suffer due to selfish greedy people, and maybe not with a first generation cross but later on down the line, it is very sad that our beloved dogs should be exploited like this. .hugs and love xxxxxxxxxxx

I don't mind the rant - I hope you got to let off some steam. I had not heard of some of these mixed breeds before. Penny is cute!

LOL! I don't regret it and I totally agree with you. I think it all started to go downhill when for some people, dogs went from being faithful companions to designer accessories :( Lovely photo of Penny
