Description
Another narrow street in the Old Town of Heidelberg.
The Cave 54 is considered the oldest student jazz club in Germany. It is located in a basement in the Krämergasse in the Old Town of Heidelberg. "Cave 54" was founded as a jazz club in February 1954 by Heidelberg students.
Jazz greats like Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Oscar Peterson and Lionel Hampton, who were guest in Heidelberg barracks for troop entertainment, came to their local gigs in the club and to play along in the jam sessions. (Wikipedia)
Until March 2013, the NATO Headquarters Allied Force Command was here in Heidelberg. Until then, many Americans lived here. Most are now moved to Wiesbaden or back to the States.
