Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

A beautiful capture Andrea and an exquisite close-up on FlickR - Tizzy25 continues to impress me. I hope they are for sale in the US. I'll let you know!!!

Wow, what a difference between the two shots. The other version (flickr) is a sensuous, spilling closeup; while this is more a 'group portrait', and it has a delicate display feel to it---ie, with a strong design sense. Delicate, almost Oriental. Also, it looks like they're in front of some kind of multi-sided glass thing---upper right corner---something metallic perhaps: This adds to the many lights in the piece. And you have some of your signature postwork in the lower and middle right, where you break the hues into flat overlapping masses---I love how they 'happen' there, when they're not found in the rest of the piece. I really like this different postwork for different sections approach you've shown us; it's inspiring me to think in "sectionals" more. It's very effective. The flowers are so soft and gentle, here...a beautiful portrait, with very sensitive postwork. And btw, Andrea: Let me not write another jot without thanking you for your wonderful comments and support of my work. I'm one of several here who regard you as a terrific creative artist, so to be able to excite you with my art means a great deal to me. You were one of the reasons I kept posting candids, for example: Your observations have meant a lot to me: So thank you, I'm glad I can give you some pleasure. (Now, if you had real comedy-sense, you'd come to my next upload and write: "Mark? This SUCKS! I almost lost my breakfast...but no offense..." I'd pay you all the crown jewels in Europe for that...) Seriously though, thank you Andrea. It's really meant a lot to me.
