Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Great capture... looks as if the frogs and toads are getting plenty of action in the pond. :-)

love the comments---"I've never seen anything like this in my whole life; amazing what happens in your garden!" (denise), or "That is what I would call multiple wedding" (Helle). I gotta say, this and the flickr shots are amazing multi-surfaced textured abstracts, made of organic beings, but looking like abstracts all the same: In fact this looks like an exotic Japanese soup, with one of those animals you're not supposed to eat, but if you pay 8 billion euros a plate you can have a spoonful...amazing what you got here. Where the flesh hits the air---emerging out of the water---you have this glassy near-decoupage effect, and the contrast of all those fleshy scales with the sheer plasticity of the water---it's to die for. Beastly and beautiful, a wonderful abstract. Toady. Love it. ("Toady" means nothing---I just needed to say it. First time in my life! Don't know if it's a compliment or a descriptive, but sometimes you just gotta say a word. Hope it didn't ruin your day. "Veddy toady. Toadiscious. Of a toadescent quality...With a toadascious nose..." I'll stop...)
