He looks so handsome amongst the reeds! How nice to get one in an environment that contrasts rather than conceals. We picked up three stuffed Audubon plush birds with bird calls inside, and one was this lovely little blackbird. (Squeeze it to hear the song the bird sings!) Hopefully our three young grandsons will enjoy them and become interested in birds, but one never knows what will capture their attention. Kansas has a plethora of beautiful little songbirds, and we made sure to get them each one that lives in their area that they can see and hear for themselves. (I never would have mentioned it if you'd posted a picture of a different bird! LOL!)

I'm skipping only because of time, I'll come back for gaps in following sessions...Wanted to comment on this today because I was struck by the high contrast between the high-lit grasses and the deep black, blackbird. Very large contrast, and it sets off the black beautifully. Lots of detail in the grass too, a scrappy rough collection (really like it). And the bird stands out like a big punctuation mark, aided by it's striking red/tan/white splotch. Fine contrast with lots of detail, another strong portrait from you, of the cacophony and symphony of nature.

An excellent pose for you - I have trouble photographing Red-Winged Blackbirds - they are always flittering about!
