Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Snazzy colors in this digifiddled version of the beach huts! I don't remember your hut being in the high 490s. Congratulations for "Phalaenopsis" being selected in LWITG! :o)

I liked the non-postworked version a great deal; but for today, let me comment on this. Your postwork is throughout the image, and it has a strong analytic quality, breaking hues and surfaces into many different, tactile textures. You've kept the lines very clean---as if you'd outlined them in ink---and you've brought out high contrast in hues, both in upper huts and lower huts. Shadows are flat and deep, for more contrast; and your background reminds me of Van Gogh---those are his blues, mixed with his dark yellows, and some of his rushing lines...An pulsing, rich transformation; and by cropping it as you did, you concentrated it, for us, into a narrow band of very intense activity. I love what you did with this, Andrea. (Sounds like, "I love what you did with the place!" Can you imagine if someone actually decorated their place like this? Guests drive up and think, "whoa! I'm not goin' in there!" I'd give anything to have one day where we can postwork life. Postwork our friends. Postwork our neighbors. Postwork the government. Take off 2 or 300 gigabytes and be thin and "chic" for a day. Use edge filters on people we don't like, desaturate our relatives...It's a thought. I'll let you know if I come up with anything, though this could take time...)

Love this! It's taken an already excellent shot of the beach houses, and made them wildly wonderful!
