Description

The caption pretty well covers the description of this pic from a book I wrote over a decade ago but was never able to get published. At the time, I designed the image more or less to show how a 2D illustration of a subject like rockets would look. I simply squashed my 3D models in the "Z" axis. I built the models by first building the Mercury Redstone and it's derivitives, then the V-2. I also like the idea of comparing real world every day objects such as the Cessna 150. Hope you like, enjoy.

In the late 50's I had a model kit that had every rocket known to the manufacturer from the V-1 up to the Redstone.

That must have been really cool. I had Mercury, Gemini and Apollo and then a space station model derived from an Atlas booster. I recall having a moon buggy model as well. I was 12 when the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey" came out. That and later, the Apollo 8 mission got me interested in human space flight.
