I've been doing art for a long time. I use to do my work using an airbrush and standard paint brushes, but now use only the computer. I have a MFA degree in painting, but make my living doing graphic design. The work that I do using the computer, looks almost the same as the work I use to do using an airbrush. I've now use AI images to start with and fix and modify them. Except for the ability to create an image a whole lot faster, all that has changed is the clean-up. "click".

I really like the strong shape created by the back of the headpiece, and that the angle of it directs your eye to her face. There are a lot of really nice textures that show here and the iridescence of the feathers around her shoulders is nicely picked up. I wonder what the effect would have been with a stronger eye makeup colour? I do like the contrast between the relative softness of the makeup and the hard edges of the headpiece - just curious if a dramatic colour would have been too much? Thanks for sharing!

curious me: was it deliberate or more subconscious your choice of skin texture & how the make-up subtly plays off the shapes of feathers? apart from this being a lovely lovely work in & of itself, that was my first thought/question...

I've been doing art for quite a while and a lot of my choices are subconscious. But, I did chose the face make-up because it went with the feel of the image (feathers). Same with the headdress.
