Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Bless him... dear Ralph in dreamland.. that must have been an energetic outing... then again this breed are burst speed dogs like greyhounds, people often think they are overly energetic dogs which is not true... they then go and buy a springer spaniel instead.. chuckle. Lovely shot.

Lovely. How much do they love us. How deeply they are part of our lives. How we MISS them when they are gone from us. Oh Amber... Your papa loves... Life is less without you.

Aren't you glad he can't use your camera when you nod off in front of the telly, revenge would be sweet.

OMG, a big black nose with nostrils that won't quit! Great up close shot of Ralphie, recovering from his walk, Andrea.

I like both photos of Ralph and I love the healthy looking wet nose. He looks like he is snoring! Pinatas are very traditional at Mexican parties. They are filled with candy, treats and small prizes. The children are blindfolded and given a stick. Each child is given a few swings and when the Pinata is broken open, the children all rush in to gather as much candy as possible. To be honest, many adults get whacked with the sticks before the candy falls free.

very cool macro

a romp out on a trail, fresh air, and sunshine will do this everytime! This is just too precious!! Good thing Ralphie doesn't care that you post these pics of him, giggles.

Great shots! I've always wished I could nap as professionally as a dog.

Another terrific capture of one of your dogs. That big in-your-lens nose, with those teeth? The bee's knees, the cat's pajamas. Love it. This is the kind of shot which, were it a human, the human would shout, "you took this of ME???? ArghhhhhhHHHH!" (They'd sue you if you put it online!) But dogs---they don't care. I love your dog shots, they're just the best. They always look so immersed in sleep, in your photos. You get the dog-essence. Terrific!
