Description

Captured 3/8/14, early morning, where a freeway offramp meets a busy street, about 1.30 miles from home. The chain, along with cables, connect four huge concrete blocks surrounding the base of a traffic light pole. Anomalous is an understatement in this regard. Go figure. More photos on this unusual setup to come. Bye bye.

Strange, you wouldn't think that those blocks would be tempting for anyone to move; I can't imagine that locking them is really serving any purpose, unless there's a little pixie who knows your obsession and put them there with locks and chains just for you to find... And I'm glad you did, what an excellent capture, with shadows and rust and light and texture galore, Harry. A great one for the books. Well done!

an almost perfect shot: the subject, framing, close-up, textures, colors ... a downside: the framing of the bolt a little too close to the center as a framing leftmost would have made a great shot!

Bolt, what bolt? The padlock is one of the main features and is perfectly situated within the frame.

yes, an inexplicable find, but just waiting for your eye. Yes, you centered the padlock dead center, but all the chains create a wonderful set of rivers, which gives real variety to the shot. And you have bleached light in front, and shadows in back---it's really a well-divided shot, with upper and lower, left and right, etc. And fine detail on the chain itself....Another pop-out treatment of these strange beasts, clear as a bell and very complex. (Amazing how such a mundane object can be so complex, from the right eyes.) And that "crater" behind the lock? Well, it's a 'crack', but it seems large in this perspective: It gives a dramatic touch. You have the eye, Harry, you get these things in ways I wouldn't even 'see'. More fine work from you, of everyday objects turned into canyons and cataclysms... And best of luck with everything coming up: I hope your medical journey is a positive one on all ends. All my very best to you, in every way.
