Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Superb capture Andrea. God bless.

Great shot I think this works better than the wide view but it looks a great place to walk.

you captured the water so beautifully
AGentleMuse
Stunning capture!

But is looks mighty beautiful and I love the reflections. Looks like they are made with a pencil :-)

This really is different from that one on Flickr. I love the closer look, and the reflections are beautiful, also by their color. The trunk looks a bit like a crocodile to me, so watch out, Andrea, you never know what has come closer by all that flood-water, huh?

This shot is a beauty Andrea.

Another lovely dog walking place.

Wonderful reflections on the water, initially I did not know it was a river until I saw the wider angle shot, I like both for completely different reasons, the first as mentioned above and the wider one as we also see Rosie enjoying herself along the bank. Again it will take on a whole new image come the summer months when the tree's are in full leaf and what not. Nice work.

The odd barbel or two waiting to snag a bait come to mind here, and most definitely chub/perch at the sunken tree. Sorry old anglers start dreaming :) Superb photo, I really like the light.

Both shots are great for their own reasons

Fantastic reflection and capture! :)

Beautiful reflection :)

Good contrast of the sharpness of the tree limb and background reeds versus the blurred reflections in the water. And, I never heard of the maxim you quoted, but it sounds reasonable.

My favorite quote on photography ... it's my tag line in the Forum. This is outstanding, while the other one is interesting and is more about Rosie than about the reflections and the log.

Reflections is wonderful
danapommet
I do like the reflections but I also like the pristine view that you captured!

Some beautiful reflections here. The log puts me in mind of some animal. A lizard perhaps.

The other shot brings home another maxim, though no one said it yet: It would go something like, "wonderful closeups make a simple place magical". The larger shot shows a very sweet river, creek, etc, with a great shot of Rosie. But when we see a closeup, the water becomes a whole universe, with beautiful secrets unfolding. Beautiful morphs from upper golds to lower greens/green-blues. And the darker reflections and middle large branch ground the piece, even thought the ground is atop. But most of all, you have that horizontal feeling in the water, in the reflections and in the water itself. It has real sheen and jewel-beauty. A simple sight, beautifully captured, bringing to mind another maxim, this time from a 19th Eastern European rabbi: "Miracles are beneath my feet, if I only bother to look..."
