Description
Having left the vault we now travel through the winding passages, the silence is disturbing. Not a single word has been spoken for over an hour which is understandable since we are about to confront a demon who according to Kortt is insanely powerful. He believes Kasza'Zuel will honor our agreement though by returning Hayden to use healed, she was dying from from wounds she took during the goblin attack. A troll smashed her rib cage and part of it pierced her lung, death was inevitable. I called out for help and it was a demon who appeared. He offered me a deal. If I retrieve a book which we now know to be a powerful grimoire, he would then save Hayden's life. The grimoire was protected by wards that prevented the demon from acquiring it himself. With little choice I agreed and it was then I discovered Hayden would only be returned to me after the grimoire was exchanged. Soon after I was saved by Kortt from a powerful stone golem, from there we found the vault and the grimoire. In the process we awoke three brothers who now aid us on our journey, they are intimidating individuals, particularly Crete. It seemed he was going to be a problem but it appears to have worked itself out. Strangely, Kortt is related to them but it is very adamant about keeping that a secret. Then the silence is finally broken, I hear Crete...
"Are we hitting the demon right off or are we going to stall? It would be best..."
Kortt spins faster than I thought possible and is now nose to nose with Crete. "Attacking Kasza'Zuel would be VERY unwise! He is older and more powerful than all, this includes the gods. Limbo is a realm four times the size of this one and he rules over two thirds of it leaving whats left for ALL the other demon lords to divide among themselves. He remains unchallenged for a reason and he is the ONLY individual I'm aware of with enough power to freely cross back and forth between this realm and his own as he pleases.
Wow, listening to Kortt leaves me feeling worried again. I knew he said the dark child was powerful but I never expected that.
"You said one of my swords is for planar creatures, right?" Asks Crete.
"I did." Replies Kortt. "But Kasza'Zuel is no mere demon. For your sword to be effective you will first need to hit him which I guarantee is a lot easier said than done. The moment he feels threatened our chance of getting Hayden back disappears. In the blink of an eye he could open a portal and unleash a hundred thousand demons upon us."
"If he has that ability then why doesn't he do it?" Asks Grys. "I mean what is stoping him from conquering this realm?"
Kortt turns to Grys. "Simply put...the gods. Releasing demons into the realm on that scale would not be tolerated, he would start a battle neither side could truly win. Make no mistake, Kasza'Zuel is not stupid but if we force his hand he will retaliate."
This is all my fault, because of me Kasza'Zuel is a part of this. Yet listening to Kortt speak of the gods, I wonder where they were when I called for help? Why was a demon the only help that presented itself?
"Our best move is to honor our end of the agreement, simply exchange the grimoire for Hayden and leave it at that." Says Kortt.
"I agree." Says Hades. "However...what about after the deal is concluded? What will prevent him from attacking us once he has the book?"
"Their are no guarantees." Replies Kortt. "But once he has the book I believe he will leave. He has been trying to acquire this grimoire for countless centuries so now that he finally has it, he will view it as a victory."
Crete then speaks. "Strange that it resided in my vault. I find that most curious."
"Tate? Are we getting close?" Asks Kortt. He seems to have changed the subject on Crete so I decide to go along with it.
"We are in a unknown area." I say. "The dark child magically ported me to the wards, to the point which he could go no further. I never had to travel these passages so your guess is as good as mine at this point."
We continue on making good time, but it isn't long before the silence sets back in. The passages all begin looking the same after awhile and when I start to lose my focus that's when we here him.
"HaHaha ha ha Haha."
The dark child has found us. We round the corner and there he stands looking as creepy as ever. Theirs just one problem, Where's Hayden?

The story is a wonderful adventure; there is suspense building up now. And the illustration is superb to accompany the story.

Excellent idea to play catch up for those who haven't been following it. I, of course, continue to love your story and illustrations.

Wonderful! I see some nasty consequences of giving that book to the little devil.
