Description

Happy Equinox! It is so good to see this horrible winter coming to a close. I think I'll celebrate tonight by drinking mead and dancing naked around a bonfire. Since I first saw a bonsai tree as a kid, I have always wanted to try my hand at the art. This is a Crepe Myrtle, grown from seed for two years. I grew it in a shallow plastic tray, in poor soil, with barely enough water to keep it alive. This dwarfed the tree nicely. This winter I trimmed and bound the roots, and set it in this nice little bonsai planter. I will gradually train the branches with wires and prune to keep the foliage dense. I should have started this project 40 years ago. Better late than never!
