My corporeal form lives with my wonderful wife and six eccentric cats in beautiful Sedgefield, but my dreaming body is frequently elsewhere, exploring the fractal universe and marveling at nature's chaos. I love traveling to places that exist only as mathematical constructs on my computer and bringing back snapshots that sometimes remind me of the real world (whatever that means), sometimes of metamagical worlds we can visit only in our imaginations. I trained as a biologist and run a small company specialising in science publishing - writing, editing, illustrating and typesetting. For 3D world building I use Vue, Daz Studio and Poser, but I've also used Bryce since version 2 and done some work with Terragen, Carrara and Groboto. For technical illustration I use mainly Illustrator and Photoshop.
Thanks for visiting my little corner of Renderosity, and to everyone who has kindly commented on my images or added my works as a favourite, thank you for that too. Craig.

First, thank you so much for celebrating my birthday, Craig, you always make me feel very special. Second, I've been meaning to write you to thank you for yet another string of beautiful comments on my work. (I'll write soon.) And I've also been meaning to return here and share more on your images (ie, in comments). I saw the previous image, and I'll wait till I comment on it to express my admiration for your light and silken textures; but those dinosaurs are delightful---they may be running from a plane, but they don't look like they'll be felled). But here, they really DO look like they'll be felled: An old prop plane may startle them, but a cat? Fuggeddabboudit. Get outa Dodge, people...Love it. Anyone who's owned a cat understands: However small they are, they're fearless. Even in the face of dinosaurs. It's delightful, Craig, and done with your usual finesse with background, dramatic lighting (waves of shadow across the grass), real highlights in the flowers---lovely---and the way the whole image seems to move in the direction of the chase. And your lack of sky pulls us into the chase even more. And btw, I know the other theory of why the dinosaurs went extinct. Being a scientist, I thought you might wanna pass this around: They were tired of eating whole forests and getting no credit. Other creatures were calling them "pigs"---even though I don't know if there even were pigs back then. (I'm not one of those scientists.) So one of them said: Let's go extinct, we'll become famous, they'll put our bones in museums, and then scientists will spend decades trying to figure out "what happened"...There was a long pause, then all the other 'saurs took a deep breath and said: "Riiiiiiiiight. Keep takin' those MEDS, dude..." And they walked away. (Are you still reading?) But fate got back at them, because they were the first ones whose bones showed up in museums. And to this day, if you listen closely when the museum is closed-down, you'll hear them whispering, "damned Frank! We get screwed by him every time..." (Frank was the dinosaur who came up with the idea.) Look, I came up with this on the spot, ok, this isn't "The Gulag Archipelago"! I didn't say it was a great idea. But plausible...and if you get the Nobel for it, mention my name... Thanks Craig. It's delightful, and done beautifully as all your images are. Thank you so much for this gift!
