Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

That has character. Should have put it on ebay, they'll sell anything on there :)

I can see that the paint is all dried up but there are some pretty colors in that old paint case! A nice photo to remember it!

Andrea, I'm surprised! You up and threw away that beloved objet d'art? In any event, I love the ambience radiating from this heirloom, replete with that soup of dried up colors.
SunriseGirl
You threw it away??!!?? My paint box looks much messier than this and I still use it...perhaps that is my problem.....do you think I would paint better pictures with a brand new set of colors?? :) Maybe i will try that.

Absolutely worth photographing, and also worth throwing out! LOL! I love the colors. This was always my favorite part about painting ... all those colors, all that potential. :P Digital painting isn't quite the same.

Lovely subject. Color, texture, composition, suffused with a powerful nostalgia. I don't think there is anyone who couldn't relate to this. Well done.

That was my watercolor box :)

This is under the category of "totally ugly and so irreplaceable". It's beautiful to anyone who's painted. Everyone else can walk into an artist's studio and go "eeeeuuuuwwww, don't you ever clean this place UP???" But for an artist, this sight is heaven. And you know what? It makes a beautiful shot! I luuuuv the cracked colors, and the big gorges in them, and one group---the kind of tan-nish dudes on the bottom right---is like a bunch of guys crawling to get out. A glorious mess. You can post these anytime, and you've inspired me to take pics of my paints and pastels, etc. (Like you, I draw in pastels? The drawing looks like nuclear burn, and I walk away looking worse---powder all over me.) I'm all for pics like these---this is wonderful.
