Description

Welcome to the uncanny valley. The figure is Smay's Nata. The skin needed some subtle color variation, which I made with a Clouds node. (You almost can't tell it's there, unless I take it away, then you know something's wrong.) I made a procedural bump for skin and lips from Turbulence, and a procedural specularity map, also with Turbulence. Eye shaders are simple but important. Use scatter and Fresnel reflection for realism!! I didn't like the Nata hair, so I used Poser 6 Jessi_Short_Blonde, which I had to scale and use a magnet on it to make it fit. I changed the hair shader, too because Nata didn't look right as a blonde, IMO. Lighting is the HDRI Doge 2 HDRI at 3X amplification that I use so much and one infinite light.

Brilliant work. The thumbnail jumps off the screen and the full image even more so. I agree that an IBL and an infinite are all the lights you need for many scenes if you get them right.
