Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

What a great road. Imagine how much better it would be if you got rid of those damn tress. ;) (Great shot Marilyn) Seriously though, what a beautiful place. The nearest I have ever come to seeing trees like this was at Mariposa Grove in Yosemite.

Amazingly, we're only seeing the lower portions of these magnificent beasts, and yet they encroach us totally. Your road shots have been wonderful, Marilyn, you have an eye for paths and roadways. And this one shows just what roads and paths do: They emerge from a close, shadowed place, and move into light. The foreground trees cast deep shadows (and are 'in' deep shadows) and you chose to make that your foreground, rather than light (which is a more obvious choice). So the light emerges in the back instead. I think this is very expressive; and the feeling, as we go back, is that the trees are packed in there and they're grand. A very knowing shot, I think it shows that you know these sights like you know your own backyard. Beautiful and mysterious, a fine pov.

I am always thrilled with places like this. Tara claims I've become a real tree-hugger. Your photo oozes atmosphere...love it.

When we came through there in the fall on the way to see you, we had to take 101 (which is bad enough) because we were driving the motorhome. Maybe one day we can take that secondary road through the park. (No pig-in-a-poke roads when you take up as much room as we do! LOL!) This is just gorgeous.

Nice work. I haven't been that way for a couple of years but I remember the feeling of awe looking at those trees.

This is a GREAT photo! It superbly captures the feeling you get traveling in the company of these giants.

On the road again, Can't wait to get on the road again…... One thousand years? Even older than that, Maz. A great shot, but also spooky, in this capture of the road and antediluvian redwoods , Marilyn
