Description

I use to be scared of these things...they are really ugly and have pointy sharp teeth...get pretty big...but they are scared of people...mainly nocturnal....they eat trash and slugs and things so they are good for the garden to get rid of slugs. of course they no longer can get on my property. this a a photo from a couple years back that I painted over. hope you like... have a safe and happy time... ***chills and thrills***

The fascinating possum.. some people call them giant rats but that would be unfair, they tend to keep themselves to themselves, they do have sharp teeth and if they have no choice they will use them... their tail is like a giant rats tail... sometimes they will come close to the house in search of food and will often eat cat or dog food on the back porch.. if they have young to feed they can get desperate. They are marsupials and have a very special skill if truly threatened they go into a mimicking of death laying there as if dead and they even secrete the smell of a sick or dying possum, during this period the animal can be picked up and whatever.. but they regain consciousness between 30 minutes to 4 hours later.. varies. Amazing creatures in some ways. Nice work here with the painting of one.
