Description
1-Of-2-Now here is sort of a rare car and I think a lot of you may not have seen or have seen one in a while. This is a 1964 Mercury Caliente two door hardtop which I think in it's time it was one of the best cars Ford Motor Company ever created. In fact my brother owned a "64" Mercury Cyclone which was black and a four speed. I thoroughly love that car and today any time I see one of these cars I just have to look at it. I do wish they still built them because I think they were one fine car, so here's an opportunity to view a car that's probably only seen in car shows. So I'm sure some you out there remember this car you can sure appreciate what I'm writing here. Hope you like it, and have a great day.

A friend had a red one with a 289 and 4 on the floor way back in high school. Too bad they were overshadowed by the Chevy 2 and Nova, also a fine little pre-muscle, muscle car.

I can relate to this car. when I was young and working for a car dealer parts. sometimes the pickups were gone(Rancheros 64) I was able to drive cars from the used car lot and or cars belonging to sales for deliveries. for a while I was able to drive a 64 Comet 4 door, but with a posi-trac rear end and a bad ass V8. it was an automatic but would break rubber on each gear change. I still think that it may have been a V8 other than the 289 to influence customers a long time dream of mine to have one of my own

My dad owned a 64 Chevy that had a similar body style. Nice shot.

The engine appears to be either the 390 or 427ci big block with the tri-power carbs. Those were incredably fast.
